Our great passion for cycling leaded us across Europe and North America the past few years. This brought us the idea to travel through South America for five months this year, by bike of course. We will start in Quito in July, cross the Andes and reach São Paulo in November.
Our tour contains a distance of round about 7000 km, the highest point will be 4800 m above sea level. Only 1 % of the distance we will cover are on cycle paths, most of the time we will share the road with cars and trucks.
We are looking forward to some great sightseeing destinations as well! We will pass the ancient Inka city Machu Picchu in Peru, the famous Salar de Uyuni, the world´s greatest salt desert, and the Iguazú Falls ins Brazil.
“What I am looking forward to most of all is not what will be in front of me but what will be above me. Watching a sky full of stars is a luxury the modern, densely populated cities refuse their inhabitants. In the Andes the air is clear and the night sky is pure. I will experience the world I live in from a new perspective.”
